Alexander W. Ostheimer-Lebeau

A different way to practice.

Alexander founded Home Counsel Legal Services to bring a more flexible, thoughtful approach to legal support. His aim is to integrate technology from the ground up, making the work more efficient and the experience easier to fit into both the client’s and counsel’s lives.

He began his family law practice after articling at a boutique firm, working alongside a mentor with more than 25 years of experience. That foundation continues to inform his approach to family dynamics, careful preparation and practical advice.

A wider perspective.

Alexander’s earlier work explored how law responds to technology and protects people. At the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Law, Technology and Society, he researched blockchain applications for business and government and analyzed policies governing cryptocurrency. Before that, in the private sector, he investigated suspected fraud and helped protect clients from cryptocurrency scams.

At the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, he examined legislation and country reports on corruption and economic crime. As a legal consultant with the Bureau d’Assistance Juridique Internationale, he researched complex mandates for institutional and private organizations, preparing legal memoranda on tax matters and the structures of international organizations for their consideration.

These roles called for careful research, attention to inconsistencies and the ability to turn complicated information into practical answers—habits he brings to the HCLS practice for individual clients and lawyer Members.

Beyond the file.

Away from practice, Alexander enjoys chess, playing the piano and getting outdoors on his mountain bike or longboard.
