Portrait of Shawna-Kay M. Armstrong

A steady presence.

Shawna-Kay approaches family law with clarity, compassion and strategic advocacy. She understands that divorce, parenting and financial decisions often arrive at an emotionally difficult time. Her priority is to help clients feel heard and informed as their matters move forward.

Her work includes divorce proceedings, parenting issues, support claims, financial disclosure, mediation and domestic contracts. She focuses on realistic options, careful drafting and open communication.

A path across legal systems.

Shawna-Kay earned her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Technology in Jamaica and her Legal Education Certificate at Norman Manley Law School. After moving to Canada, she completed accreditation coursework at the University of Ottawa and obtained her Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation.

She went on to complete the Law Practice Program at Toronto Metropolitan University. Earlier work as a legal assistant in insurance defence developed her procedural knowledge and ability to manage complex documentation—skills she now brings to family law practice.

Beyond the file.

Shawna-Kay enjoys travelling, discovering new restaurants, biking through the city and taking long walks with her dog.

They practice independently through the HCLS Platform and are not part of an association for the joint practice of law. Each lawyer is responsible for their own work, business activities and any non-licensees they engage.
