Disclaimer : Completing any of the above Intake Forms does not create a solicitor-client relationship nor should it be construed as legal advice. If you require legal advice based upon your own particular situation, please schedule a time to speak to one of our lawyers. These Intake Forms are designed to help streamline your matter for an Initial Consultation and your case should you choose to retain a lawyer from HCLS.
No. In fact, these forms help save you money should you choose to retain an HCLS lawyer. This is because we review any completed intake form prior to an initial consultation with you to best understand your unique situation. We do not record the amount of time it takes to review your intake form. As such, the more detailed your answers, the better prepared all parties are for an initial consultation.
Following review, if you have not already scheduled a meeting, HCLS will reach out to you to schedule an Initial Consultation to further discuss your situation and options.
During the consultation process, you will have the opportunity to share your legal issue(s) in greater detail and for us to determine how we can best assist you. It's a safe, confidential environment where we'll discuss your needs and outline possible solutions.
Our goal is to have an in-depth understanding of your situation to provide you with the most accurate and relevant advice based upon your unique circumstances.
While there is no obligation on your end to complete the above forms (other than the VOI), we highly recommend that you complete the relevant form based upon your situation. This will help streamline a future Initial Consultation and also reduce costs on your end by avoiding having to pay for a lawyer's time to record your information.
The Family Law intake forms ("Starting a Court Application" and "Responding to an Application") are meant to capture information about your background and current situation with regards to parenting time and decision-making for your child(ren), as well as other claims against an opposing party.
The general Family Law form is more so focused on considerations for separation or cohabitation agreements, and other general family law matters which are not so litigious in nature that they require court intervention.
All of the above forms work in tandem with the "Child and/or Spousal Support" form which focuses on the financial aspects of your case.

The Child and/or Spousal Support form is meant to capture information relating to your background, relationship, and children, if any.
You will first be asked to enter your contact information. Following that, you will be directed to complete an intake interview where we will collect the above information.
Your information is securely stored and processed by DivorcePath.
The Child Protection intake form is meant to capture information relating to your background and current situation with regards to ongoing child protection concerns raised by the Children's Aid Society.

The ILA form is designed to help HCLS better understand your situation to proactively review your file and ensure that the necessary steps to reduce your exposure to uncertainties down the line are taken.
The Opinion Letter forms help streamline the process of what exactly it is you require so that we can provide you with a quick turnaround.

Yes.
If you are having difficulty in completing any of the above forms or aren't sure what information is being specifically asked of you, please schedule a free 30-minute e-Intake Consultation.
Please note that our e-Intake Consultation, being a free courtesy service, is exclusively designed to help you complete the above forms. No legal advice shall be provided during this consultation and no solicitor-client relationship is formed.
Once you've completed an intake form, you will receive a follow-up email requesting that you verify your identity.
The Verification of Identity (VOI) form is designed to comply with the Law Society of Ontario's requirement that all law firms, including Home Counsel Legal Services, must verify the identity of their clients. Given the remote nature of HCLS, this process is done online.
If you have not already scheduled a consultation, we encourage you to do so from our Services page to streamline the process.
Your information is securely stored and processed by RealAML.
