In general, Home Counsel Legal Services collects, uses and discloses Personal Information about our clients and service providers in order to provide our clients with professional legal services, and about applicants for positions with Home Counsel Legal Services for the purpose of evaluating the application and deciding whether to establish (and subsequently to manage or terminate) an employment, contractual or partnership relationship. To verify your identity as required by the Law Society of Ontario, Home Counsel Legal Services uses a third-party provider (RealAML) to conduct identity checks of your official documents. Additional methods, such as confirming your identity via your mobile carrier may also be used. As such, you authorise your mobile carrier to disclose your mobile account details for the purpose of verifying your identity. Those details may include your name, address, and device details.
Your Personal Information is stored in secured locations and on servers controlled by Home Counsel Legal Services, located either at our offices or at the offices of our service providers.
Upon your written request, subject to certain exceptions, Home Counsel Legal Services will inform you of the existence, use and disclosure of your Personal Information and will give you access to that information. Access requests should be sent to our Chief Privacy Officer, using the contact information below.
